About Us
Homegrown ~ Handmade
The Pembroke Farmers' Market is the place to buy food and other products directly from local producers - producers who are eager to provide the freshness and quality you expect.
You'll find all sorts of locally-produced foods - from fruits and vegetables to meats, baked goods, honey, preserves and gluten-free mixes. If you're looking for handcrafted products, our artisans offer clothing, jewellery, soaps and skin care products, and furniture.
History
The Market was first established in the early 1900's, and over time
flourished as an economic pillar of the Pembroke community. It closed
for a time in the 1980's, and was re-established
in 1992. Since then, the Market has grown steadily under
the guidance of a Vendors' Association and the City of Pembroke.

George Petermann was a driving force
behind the construction of the new
Market building.
One of the Market's greatest accomplishments has been the construction of a 5,000 square-foot building which opened officially in June of 2007.
Strategically located near the waterfront, boardwalk and downtown businesses, the roofed area provides shelter from weather for vendors and shoppers. There's also an enclosed area for vendors with meats. In that area you'll also find a canteen and a customer seating area.
And there's plenty of free parking and even washrooms.
The construction of the Market building was made possible primarily through ongoing fundraising from a core group of dedicated volunteers who consisted of Pembroke Farmers' Market board members and vendors. We also obtained an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant to equip our building. Substantial donations were received from Farmers' Markets Ontario, Farm Credidt Canada and Giant Tiger (Pembroke) as well as numerous donations from businesses and individuals.
We take great pride in our new building and are pelased to say that as of December 32, 2009 it has been completely paid for.
We would also like to acknowledge the City of Pembroke for their support and guidance during the construction stages.

We're delighted to be a vital and vibrant part of the Pembroke business community - helping to bring more shoppers to our downtown.
